Legal systems are based on laws and these laws are the basis for all legal systems. There are many different areas of law in the world, but you will focus on Contract Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Tort law and EU Law. Therefore it is important to start learning legal rules.

For example Contract law is the body of law that deals with agreements between two or more parties that are enforceable in a court of law. It includes any agreement that has been made with an exchange of goods, services, or money as well as any other types of agreements such as those not involving money or those entered into by one person on behalf of another person.

Furthermore, Criminal law is the body of laws and legal principles which deal with crimes and the punishment thereof. In many countries criminal justice policy is a sub-topic under its own right, often being referred to as "criminal policy" or "criminology." We have broken down each subject and the key information you will need into subject specific Core Series.

Both legislation and case law are important for lawyers because they provide guidance on how the law should be interpreted in different situations, but they serve different purposes.
